Aura unveils new features to enhance family online safety

Aura, an all-in-one online safety solution for individuals and families, has introduced new features designed to enhance the online safety of modern families.

These features provide insights into children’s social media usage, enforce screen time limitations, and deliver real-time alerts, helping families navigate the digital world safely.

Aura’s proprietary technology, powered by artificial intelligence, monitors families' online activities while ensuring data protection from cybercriminals. The newly announced features coincide with the launch of Aura's Digital Parenthood Community. The free online forum offers parents expert advice and educational content from renowned organisations in education, mental health, and technology.

Aura's new features aim to keep parents informed about their children’s online activities through real-time alerts and detailed insights into the apps and websites they use.

One feature, New App Alert, notifies parents when a new app is downloaded on their child's device and suggests setting time limits and content filters for each platform.

Week-Over-Week Alerts update parents on significant changes in their children’s social media usage. This feature flags instances where time spent on social media increases or decreases by at least 10% compared to the previous week, helping parents identify potential issues early.

Beyond privacy and security, Aura’s new features also help parents promote healthier online habits. Recognising that 70% of kids check their mobile devices within 30 minutes of falling asleep, Aura has introduced the Bedtime feature, which blocks internet access on a child’s device at specified times.

Additionally, the soon-to-be-launched Focus Time will allow parents to set customised screen time schedules for activities such as homework or dinner, encouraging balanced device usage.

The newly launched Digital Parenthood Community by Aura is a free, online resource designed to empower families with tools and information to manage their digital lives effectively.

It offers content from expert partners, including Boston Children's Hospital Digital Wellness Lab, Common Sense Media, the American Academy of Pediatrics, and the Joan Ganz Cooney Center at Sesame Workshop.

Parents can also submit questions through the community platform to receive expert advice from the Digital Parenthood Coalition.

Hari Ravichandran, founder and CEO of Aura, commented on the new developments:

"As a father witnessing how fast technology can evolve, I wanted to be sure that my kids could navigate the digital world while being protected from online crime and discouraging development of unhealthy habits.

"We set out to build a solution that gives parents peace of mind, knowing they can protect themselves, their kids and their aging parents."
