Billington CyberSecurity unveils advisory board to steer public sector cyber education strategy

Billington CyberSecurity has formed an advisory board of nine cybersecurity experts to guide its expanding educational programming focused on cyber threats facing the public sector.

The announcement follows a period of growth for the Washington-based firm, which was founded in 2010 and runs cybersecurity-focused summits and workshops for government and industry stakeholders.

Thomas K. Billington, Founder and CEO of Billington CyberSecurity, said: “In response to our extraordinary growth, we have formed an advisory board to ensure we continue to meet and exceed the learning needs of the cybersecurity government community at the federal, international, and state and local level.”

The board includes senior figures from the public and private sectors:

  • George Barnes, former NSA Deputy Director and now President of the Cyber Practice at Red Cell Partners

  • Andy Boyd, former CIA senior intelligence officer and current owner of Faze 2 Strategy

  • Matt Hayden, former DHS assistant secretary and now VP of Cyber & Emerging Threats at GDIT

  • Kenny Holmes, Director of U.S. Public Sector Security at Cisco

  • Brad Medairy, EVP at Booz Allen Hamilton overseeing national cyber accounts

Board to guide government-focused programming and national cybersecurity events

Billington CyberSecurity says the board will provide input on programming aimed at federal, state, and local government cybersecurity needs.

The company’s flagship event, the Billington CyberSecurity Summit, is an annual conference that draws participation from senior government and industry leaders. In 2024, the summit hosted over 2,700 attendees and nearly 200 speakers. Its 16th edition is scheduled for September 2025 at the Washington Convention Center.

Billington added, “These leading experts will provide important perspectives and insights as we create dialogues that matter most to those in the public sector entrusted with our nation’s security.”
