Acer and Intel bring AI-powered learning to UK SEND students at Millgate School
Acer UK has deployed its TravelMate laptops, equipped with Intel Core Ultra processors, at Millgate School, a specialist institution supporting students with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND).
The initiative forms part of a pilot project exploring the use of AI to improve personalized learning, assistive technology, and classroom efficiency.

8. Serbia to host €50M National AI Factory with supercomputing power and university access
Eviden, a subsidiary of the Atos Group, has signed a €50 million contract with Serbia’s Office for IT and eGovernment to establish a National AI Factory.
The project is the first of its kind in the Balkans and will support universities, public institutions, and private sector organizations in deploying AI across strategic areas including healthcare, energy, and administration.
7. Coventry University drops semester model in favor of year-round six-week teaching blocks
Coventry University in the UK is set to introduce a major shift in course delivery, moving away from the traditional academic calendar in favor of a six-week block teaching model across all campuses.
6. Amazon funds next-gen tech talent with $16 million in computer science scholarships and internships
Amazon has awarded 400 high school seniors across the United States with scholarships valued at up to $40,000 each to support their college education in computer science and related fields. The awards are part of Amazon Future Engineer, the company’s computer science education initiative.
5. Degreed unveils AI-powered tools to cut training costs and accelerate workforce learning
Degreed, a learning platform focused on workforce transformation, has announced several AI-powered features during its annual Degreed LENS event.
The updates include enhancements to Degreed Maestro, the launch of Degreed Open Library, and new services to support enterprise learning operations.
4. Smoothwall debuts Cloud Scan to help schools detect harmful content in cloud storage
Smoothwall, a digital safety provider that forms part of Qoria, has introduced Cloud Scan, an automated platform designed to detect potentially harmful or inappropriate imagery stored in school cloud drives.
The software, which scans cloud storage every 24 hours, is aimed at helping IT teams in schools, colleges, and multi-academy trusts (MATs) identify and flag concerning content. It alerts designated safeguarding leads, allowing them to take timely action while maintaining regulatory compliance.
3. Corndel, Imperial Executive Education and Microsoft team up to skill 10,000 professionals in AI by end of 2025
Corndel, a workplace training provider specializing in AI, data, and digital transformation, has partnered with Imperial Executive Education and Microsoft to launch the Enterprise AI Academy.
The initiative will reportedly skill 10,000 professionals in artificial intelligence by the end of 2025.
2. Turnitin study finds students more concerned than educators about AI’s impact on learning
Global EdTech company Turnitin has released new research showing that students are more worried about the use of artificial intelligence in education than educators or academic administrators.
The findings come from a survey of 3,500 students, educators, and administrators across the United States, United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Mexico, and India.
1. IIT Mandi physics team heads to Barcelona for PLANCKS 2025 challenge
Four students from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi have been selected to participate in the Physics League Across Numerous Countries for Kick-ass Students (PLANCKS) 2025.
The international competition will be held in Barcelona, Spain, from 1 to 5 May, and hosted by the Autonomous University of Barcelona.
