Retail giant Best Buy Canada launches Teen Tech for Tomorrow

Best Buy Canada has announced the launch of Teen Tech for Tomorrow, a new initiative to provide Canadian teens with the latest technology to support their learning and future success.

The programme offers various opportunities, including grants, a national network, and specialised tech centres.

The grants offer up to $10,000 to Canadian public secondary schools, targeting Grades 8 to 12 students to provide educational technology and integrate recipients into the Best Buy Teen Tech Network.

Schools and students who receive the Teen Tech Grants will join this national community. The network facilitates project collaboration and offers opportunities to compete for additional funding, prizes, and technology.

They also support high-school-level robotics teams by providing materials and equipment for robotics competitions in the 2024/25 season. Each winning team will receive a $5,000 grant and one Alienware M16 R2 gaming laptop in partnership with Alienware.

Applications for Teen Tech Grants and Teen Tech Teams are open until 28th June.

Jen Knight, Best Buy Canada's Social Impact Manager, explained the programme's objectives:

"We've identified teens as a group that we can significantly impact by creating more access to technology and training. Through our new Teen Tech for Tomorrow program, our goal is to provide hands-on technology to youth at a time when they're considering post-secondary education and future careers.

“We're very excited to equip Canadian students with the tech they need to unlock their potential and pursue their dreams."
