TEAMology Raises $1.2M to Expand AI-Driven social-emotional learning for K-8 students

TEAMology, a provider of social-emotional support solutions for K-8 students, has closed its seed round of funding, raising $1.2 million.

The funding round was led by VC 414, a Milwaukee-based venture capital firm, with additional contributions from Supes' Fund, White Rose Ventures, 1855 VC, Ben Franklin Technology Partners, and Product 10X.

The funds will be used to accelerate the growth of TEAMology's platform, TEAMtalk, which integrates AI and human expertise to offer personalised support for students' social, emotional, and mental well-being. The funding will also support product marketing, talent expansion, and further development within the K-8 EdTech space.

TEAMtalk, the company's platform, allows students to engage with six character coaches who provide research-based tips and strategies. The platform uses daily check-ins, evidence-based assessments, and personalised coaching to help students develop social and emotional skills. The tool also gives educators insights into each student's progress, allowing them to tailor their support accordingly.

Jennifer Abele, managing partner at VC 414, said:

"Our team loved TEAMology's student-first approach and focus on social, emotional, and mental health outcomes. Feedback from current customers has us excited that this platform is a winning solution for teachers, counselors, students, and their families alike. We're backing an incredibly smart team that is deeply versed in holistic student well-being as well as EdTech sales."

Supes' Fund, composed of retired superintendents and education-focused experts, also played a key role in this funding round. Doug Roberts, Managing Partner of Supes' Fund, noted, "Superintendents have expressed concerns about the lack of resources to address rising student mental health issues since the pandemic. We believe TEAMology has developed a solution to this challenge."

TEAMology was founded in 2016 as part of Penn State University's Invent Penn State commercialisation ecosystem. The company's partnerships, including collaborations with Penn State and WQED, have helped expand its reach.

TEAMtalk's AI + human approach aims to create a safe space for children to express themselves, with the platform acting as an extension of in-school support teams. By identifying challenges early, TEAMtalk assists educators in intervening before issues escalate.

Linsey Covert, Founder and CEO of TEAMology, commented:

"We are ecstatic about this new chapter and the confidence and support we've received from our investors. This investment not only validates our business model but also empowers us to advance our mission of providing access to quality social, emotional, and mental health support for our K-8 students.

“We are committed to leveraging these funds to drive innovation and deliver unparalleled value to our users. The education world needs the unwavering support of trusted partners to support all students and staff at a time where mental health and wellness should be a priority for effective learning."
