Enhanced arbitration resource launched by National Academy of Arbitrators and University of Missouri

The National Academy of Arbitrators (NAA), in partnership with the University of Missouri’s Center for the Study of Dispute Resolution (CSDR) and the Strategic Communication Department at the Missouri School of Journalism, has launched an upgraded version of its Arbitration Information website

The enhanced website is a comprehensive and neutral resource for journalists and the public to understand arbitration and its role in dispute resolution.

The NAA is a professional organization specializing in labor and employment arbitration across the U.S. and Canada. They aim to enhance the arbitration profession, promote knowledge about labor and employment dispute resolution, and support workplace peace through effective arbitration practices.

Founded in 1984, the Center for the Study of Dispute Resolution at the University of Missouri School of Law is dedicated to advancing the understanding of alternative dispute resolution and fostering effective decision-making approaches. Together with the NAA, the center aims to strengthen public understanding of arbitration through this enhanced resource.

Website visitors can find explanations of key arbitration concepts, frequently asked questions, glossaries, and commentary on current issues in arbitration. A special section for media professionals offers research resources and connects journalists with NAA experts based on topic, arbitration type, or location for context or quotes.

Alan Symonette, President of the NAA, emphasized the importance of arbitration in workplace conflict resolution, stating, “This website is a critical source for the understanding of the art and science of workplace dispute resolution. It is more than an alternative to litigation—it is an essential element to workplace peace.”

The Arbitration Information website was originally launched in 2016 and is updated regularly to ensure its relevance and accuracy.

Doug Bonney, chair of the NAA Arbitration Information website committee, highlighted the user-friendly nature of the platform, adding, “The best thing about the website is how well-organized and easily navigable it is. Users can find clear and concise information and absorb it quickly.”
