Burger King Foundation launches $4.4M BK Scholars Program for 2025-26 academic year

The Burger King Foundation has opened applications for its 2025–26 BK Scholars program, offering over $4.4 million in scholarships to Burger King team members and graduating high school students across North America. 

The program, created to honor co-founder James W. McLamore, supports higher education by providing individual scholarships ranging from $1,000 to $60,000.

Applications are open through December 16, 2024. Recipients will be selected based on grade point average (GPA), work experience, extracurricular activities, financial need, and community service. Scholarship winners will be announced in April 2025.

Scholarship Categories

The BK Scholars program offers several award levels, including:

  • Three WHOPPER Scholarships: $60,000 each.

  • One Nancy McLamore Scholarship: $20,000 for a Burger King team member.

  • Six King Awards: $10,000 each for team members across six regions.

  • 12 Regional Awards: $5,000 each for the most qualified team members in six regions.

  • Over 4,000 $1,000 Scholarships: Available to high school seniors and Burger King team members from the U.S., Canada, Puerto Rico, and Guam.

Katie Repici, Executive Director of the Burger King Foundation, highlighted the program's impact, stating, “Since our inception, The BK Scholars program has already awarded nearly $60 million to more than 51,000 deserving students across North America, which is a remarkable achievement, but our work doesn’t stop there. Our goal is to award one scholarship for every Burger King restaurant – that’s more than $7 million each year.”
