Texas A&M University launches reliant student experience office to enhance student support

Texas A&M University’s Mays Business School has launched the Reliant Student Experience Office, a new facility aimed at enhancing the support provided to undergraduate students throughout their academic journey.

The office was established with the help of a $3 million endowed gift from Reliant, provided through the Texas A&M Foundation.

The Reliant Student Experience Office is designed to serve as a central hub for Mays students, offering resources and services that cover key areas such as recruitment, academic achievement, leadership development, and career preparation. By coordinating closely with other key departments, including the Career Center, Undergraduate Advising Office, and the Center for International Business, the office aims to provide comprehensive support for students.

At the ribbon-cutting ceremony on August 22, key figures from Reliant and Texas A&M University gathered to officially open the new space.

Speaking about the partnership, Rasesh Patel, President of NRG Consumer, commented on the significance of the new office for students.

“Texas A&M University and the Mays Business School are instrumental in developing our state’s future leaders, which is why we’re thrilled about the Reliant Student Experience Office and the impact it will have on every single Mays undergraduate student,” he said. “This space will enrich the student journey, providing experiences that deepen their learning, engagement, and sense of belonging.”

The office will host a variety of programmes aimed at enhancing the student experience, including the Freshman Business Initiative, the Business Honors programme, and the Fellows programme. These initiatives are structured to support students in building the skills and knowledge needed for their future careers.

In addition to providing on-campus resources, Reliant will continue to engage with Mays students through a variety of activities. These will include guest lectures and student visits to Reliant’s headquarters in Houston, offering practical insights into the business world and helping to bridge the gap between academic learning and real-world experience.

As the Reliant Student Experience Office begins its work, the focus will remain on supporting the diverse needs of Mays students, ensuring that they have the resources and opportunities necessary to succeed.

Dr. Nate Sharp, Dean of Mays Business School, reflected on the partnership with Reliant, noting the alignment between the two organisations.

“Collaborating with a corporate partner so singularly focused on student success has been a joy,” said Dean Nate Sharp, Mays Business School. “The company summarises their commitment to their customers with the statement ‘Our goal is your happiness.’ You can see why Reliant’s name on the Mays Student Experience Office was a perfect fit.”
