PG and Foundation for Environmental Education collaborate to expand Global Climate Education

PPG, a global supplier of paints, coatings, and specialty materials, has announced a new two-year partnership with the Foundation for Environmental Education (FEE) to enhance global climate education.

The collaboration will provide $150,000 in funding to expand FEE’s education initiatives, with a focus on climate change and sustainability.

The funding will contribute to the development of educational tools, including an Eco-Schools Handbook, online courses, and training materials available in multiple languages to ensure accessibility worldwide. This project is a part of PPG’s broader $5 million investment in environmental sustainability education, planned by 2030.

Peter Votruba-Drzal, PPG's Vice President of Global Sustainability, commented:

“We are proud to partner with FEE to empower the next generation with the knowledge and skills needed to tackle climate change. Through this collaboration, we aim to support the development and dissemination of high-quality educational resources that will reach students across the globe, inspiring them to become the environmental stewards of tomorrow.”

FEE, a non-governmental organisation based in Copenhagen, is working towards UNESCO’s Greening Education Partnership goals. Their ambitious target is to accredit 50% of all schools as "green" by 2030, while also expanding the number of countries integrating climate education into their national curricula.

Daniel Schaffer, CEO of FEE, emphasised:

“Climate change is one of the most pressing issues of our time, and education plays a pivotal role in addressing it. With the support of PPG, we will use the best experience and approaches from our global Eco-Schools network in the creation of new tools and materials in multiple languages. These will enable schools, young people, and their communities worldwide to learn about and address immediate climate change challenges and develop long-term environmental stewardship and sustainability practices.”

Through this partnership, PPG and FEE aim to impact 30,000 schools, 75,000 teachers, and one million students.
