Pearson welcomes Ginny Cartwright Ziegler as CMO to lead AI and marketing strategies

Global education company Pearson has announced the appointment of Ginny Cartwright Ziegler as its new Chief Marketing Officer.

Reporting directly to CEO Omar Abbosh, she will lead Pearson's marketing, brand, and communications efforts beginning 29 July 2024. Cartwright Ziegler takes over from Lynne Frank, who is stepping down from her roles as CMO and Co-President, Direct to Consumer.

With a renewed focus on AI and enterprise learning, Pearson has brought Cartwright Ziegler on board to drive these initiatives.

Omar Abbosh, CEO of Pearson, expressed his enthusiasm for Cartwright Ziegler's appointment, highlighting her innovative approach and leadership skills.

"I’m excited to welcome Ginny at this important time in Pearson's story. She is a disruptive innovator, a great people leader, and a partner magnet.

“With her creative ingenuity, the ability to connect dots and her deep Silicon Valley experience, she is a key addition to our executive team as we pivot Pearson to lead further in the era of AI.”

Abbosh also thanked Lynne Frank for her contributions over the past three years:

"I want to thank Lynne for her excellent contributions to Pearson; she has made a big difference in her three years with the company. Her warm leadership style has moved Pearson forward, brought us closer to our consumers and helped us raise the bar on Pearson’s brand," Abbosh added.

Cartwright Ziegler boasts over 30 years of experience in marketing leadership, having held key positions at renowned companies such as HP, Deutsche Bank, General Motors, IBM, Intuit, Microsoft, NCR, Sun, Philips, and Xerox PARC. Before joining Pearson, Ginny was the Chief Marketing Officer for North America at Accenture, the company's largest market segment.

She will join Pearson's executive management team. Cartwright Ziegler aims to innovate marketing strategies by integrating AI and other advanced technologies into the customer journey, identifying opportunities to scale Pearson’s businesses, and strengthening the company's market position.

She expressed her excitement about her new role, stating, "The chance to elevate lives with the gift of learning — in innovative new ways — inspired me to join Pearson. When you learn at any age, new knowledge unlocks endless transformational opportunities that can change your life, other peoples' lives, the future and even the world.

“I’m excited to collaborate with Pearson’s talented people to create exceptional experiences for Pearson’s customers that spark a contagion of knowledge."
