Canva launches AI-powered Dream Lab and expands Visual Suite to over 200 million monthly users worldwide

AI

Canva, the all-in-one visual communication platform, has announced a range of new products and features aimed at transforming design in the workplace and beyond.

The announcement coincides with Canva surpassing 200 million monthly active users and reaching an annual revenue of £2 billion.

Canva’s latest innovations include powerful new AI technology, following its recent acquisition of Leonardo.Ai. The introduction of Dream Lab, an AI-powered design tool, allows users across industries to create visuals from simple text descriptions.

Dream Lab powered by Leonardo.Ai

Canva’s Dream Lab, driven by Leonardo’s Phoenix AI model, enhances the platform’s AI image generation capabilities. It enables users to create diverse visuals, from 3D renders to photorealistic portraits, by generating multiple variations in more than 15 different styles.

The tool also allows users to customise the style of generated images, making it easier for businesses to maintain brand consistency across all visual assets.

Dream Lab builds on Canva’s commitment to responsible AI use, supported by its Canva Shield initiative to ensure AI safety and reliability.

Updates to Canva’s Visual Suite

In addition to the AI advancements, Canva has introduced a range of updates to its Visual Suite, which now includes Docs, Whiteboards, Websites, Presentations, and Videos. The platform has seen significant growth, with over 30 billion designs created to date, and more than 2.5 billion presentations and 500 million documents produced by users across 190 countries.

Key updates include:

  • Smarter Whiteboards: New AI-powered sorting and summarising features, along with interactive reaction tools for real-time collaboration.

  • Enhanced Magic Write: Improved contextual text generation and one-click text refinement.

  • Upgraded Video Tools: Advanced animation effects and automatic captioning, which can be tailored to match brand styles.

  • More Interactive Presentations: New chart types and advanced animation options to improve audience engagement.

  • Custom Mockups: New tools to create on-brand mockup templates from existing photos.

New integrations and content expansion

Canva is expanding its content library through partnerships with leading creative platforms such as Artlist and pocstock. These collaborations introduce premium video assets, music, and stock photography, further enriching Canva’s offerings and enabling users to produce world-class content.

Canva has also launched new Work Kits for small businesses, teachers, and students. These kits provide customisable templates and resources tailored to the needs of each audience, ensuring users have access to tools that support efficient and creative design.

Canva Enterprise, launched five months ago, has already been adopted by several organisations, including the NYSE, Atlassian, and HP, enabling them to scale their content creation and streamline brand management.
