University of Greenwich becomes ‘University of GreenWitch’ in Wicked celebration
In a spellbinding twist, the University of Greenwich has temporarily transformed into the “University of GreenWitch” to honor the release of Universal Pictures’ highly anticipated film, Wicked, hitting theaters on November 22.
The entire Royal Borough of Greenwich has also embraced the magical theme, rebranding itself as the “Royal Borough of GreenWitch” for the next two weeks.
Jane Harrington, Vice-Chancellor and CEO of the University of GreenWitch, shared her excitement:
“I am delighted to announce that the university is rebranding to the University of GreenWitch for the next two weeks to celebrate all things Wicked and the magic of higher education.”
Magic on campus
The campus is set to sparkle with Wicked-themed touches, including newly christened “University of GreenWitch” signage and a magical globe and water installation outside the Dreadnought building.
The Student Union is joining the fun by hosting events like Wicked Wavey Wednesday yesterday and students and staff are encouraged to update their social profiles with the temporary moniker and use the hashtag #UniofGreenWitch to spread the magic.
A wicked walk Around GreenWitch
Beyond campus, the enchantment continues with a special GreenWitch walking trail, available until November 24. Visitors can collect a map from the GreenWitch Tourist Information Centre or download one online at VisitGreenWitch.
The trail kicks off at the Tourist Information Centre, leading participants to magical landmarks, including a special plaque at the Greenwich Foot Tunnel, newly named “GreenWitch High Road,” and the whimsical “Green Café.”
The journey winds through GreenWitch Market with its sparkling roof installation and concludes at the University of GreenWitch, where visitors can admire the themed waterfall, globe, and other transformed signs.
