Security Innovation creates CMD+CTRL Security and announces acquisition by Bureau Veritas
Security Innovation has announced the creation of CMD+CTRL Security, a new company formed from its training solutions division.
The newly formed company will continue to develop and deliver the CMD+CTRL Base Camp training solutions portfolio. Jeffrey Emig, who previously held the roles of COO and CFO at Security Innovation, will lead CMD+CTRL Security as CEO.
CMD+CTRL Security is dedicated to improving security skills among development teams by offering role-based training through interactive, simulated environments.
The company provides a training platform featuring 11 cyber ranges, over 250 interactive modules, and 125 scenario-based labs. This training has been utilised by more than 300 companies and over one million participants globally.
“Proactive and immersive security training is essential for all organisations to better protect against the latest cybersecurity threats,” said Emig.
Acquisition by Bureau Veritas
Alongside the formation of CMD+CTRL Security, Security Innovation is set to be acquired by Bureau Veritas. The transaction is expected to close in the third quarter of 2024, though financial details have not been disclosed.
Ed Adams, CEO of Security Innovation, highlighted the developments:
“Today marks an important milestone for Security Innovation. This divestiture will allow both companies greater flexibility to pursue focused growth strategies.
“We see tremendous potential for expansion in the cybersecurity training solutions segment and intend to maintain a close partnership with CMD+CTRL Security to add value for our customers.”
Security Innovation has a history of successful spin-offs, including the sale of Onboard Security to Qualcomm in 2019 and the divestiture of its Government division to Raytheon in 2008.
The ongoing commercial relationship between Security Innovation and CMD+CTRL Security is expected to continue, benefiting clients through sustained collaboration.
Security Innovation has been involved in software security since its founding in 2002, providing services and training designed to secure software wherever it operates. The company's training solutions integrate interactive modules, scenario-based labs, and hands-on cyber ranges to develop robust security skills.
CMD+CTRL Security will continue this legacy, focusing on enhancing security skills and reducing software security risks through comprehensive, interactive training programmes.
Emig concludes, “CMD+CTRL Security will build on our decades of experience offering role-based skills development with realistic simulated environments to deliver impactful learning programmes that bolster security defences.”
