Proximity Learning and Nearpod team up to improve virtual learning tools for K-12 education

Proximity Learning has expanded its partnership with Nearpod, a platform used to deliver interactive instructional tools for K-12 education. The team up allows Proximity Learning’s virtual teachers to access Nearpod’s library of digital resources, which include tools for real-time assessments and interactive activities, integrated directly into their lesson plans.

As schools continue to face teacher shortages, Proximity Learning’s model offers synchronous virtual instruction to fill gaps where in-person educators are unavailable.

Evan Erdberg, president and founder of Proximity Learning, stated:

“The modern classroom is evolving, and if we want students and teachers to succeed, we have to evolve with it. Synchronous virtual instruction is much more than a stopgap measure for schools and districts—it has emerged as a viable solution for the future of education.

“Our singular focus at Proximity Learning is to equip our certified teachers with technologies and capabilities that empower them to deliver exceptional learning experiences that translate to deep engagement and real impact for students in the classroom.”

Proximity Learning’s teachers will use Nearpod’s interactive tools across various subjects. In English Language Arts classes, students can collaborate on text annotations, while in science lessons, they can manipulate images and concept maps. For maths, teachers can observe students’ problem-solving processes in real time and address misconceptions as they arise. Nearpod also offers content tailored for ESL/ELL and special education needs.

The partnership between Proximity Learning and Nearpod is part of Proximity Learning’s broader strategy to provide virtual learning solutions that address the ongoing teacher shortage in U.S. schools. Since 2009, Proximity Learning has utilised web conferencing technology to stream certified teachers into classrooms, to support students have access to live instruction even when local teachers are unavailable.

Todd Brekhus, Chief Product Officer at Renaissance and General Manager of Nearpod, commented on the collaboration:

“At Nearpod, we work tirelessly to build products that support educators and drive student success in the classroom. Our partnership with Proximity Learning will ensure their high-quality, certified teachers have access to the tools they need to foster a love of learning in every student.”
