Mathnasium Expands to Romania with 25 New Centres

Mathnasium Learning Centers, an international franchise with over 1,100 math tutoring centres, is set to expand its footprint into Romania. The company has signed a master franchise agreement with Dana Bănică, an entrepreneur known for her contributions to innovative education.

Over the next six years, at least 25 new Mathnasium centres will be established across Romania.

Dana Bănică is not new to the educational sector. In 2018, she introduced the coding school Logiscool to Romania, successfully establishing a network of more than 60 schools aimed at enhancing digital literacy among children and teenagers. Building on this success, Bănică is now turning her focus to mathematics education with Mathnasium.

Bănică, stated about the partnership:

"I chose to invest in Mathnasium because I wholeheartedly believe in the brand's mission and methodology. Drawing from my past experience and witnessing the positive impact of engaging educational programs, I recognized Mathnasium's potential to truly make a difference in Romania. With its proven approach of making math enjoyable and accessible, Mathnasium aligns perfectly with our objectives.

“Our aim is to instill a love for math in children and nurture the confidence essential for academic success and beyond. Romania is primed for this transformative shift, and I'm thrilled to play a leading role in this educational revolution."

Currently, there is a noticeable absence of dedicated math tutoring centres in Romania. Mathnasium aims to fill this gap with its proven approach to making math enjoyable and accessible. This expansion comes at a time when the demand for high-quality math education is rising, and Bănică is optimistic about the transformative impact these centres will have on Romanian students.

In recent years, Mathnasium has been steadily increasing its global presence. The brand plans to open 25 centres in Vietnam, its largest international market, and 45 centres in Saudi Arabia. The new franchise agreement in Romania is expected to boost Mathnasium's international development by more than 25% in 2024 compared to the previous year. Further expansion is planned in countries like India, Pakistan, Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Spain, and several South American nations.

Mathnasium's approach focuses on personalised instruction and customised learning plans, which help students understand math concepts and reach their full potential. The Mathnasium Method™ has been transforming how children learn math for decades, producing significant results and helping students achieve academic success.

Mathnasium provides franchisees with comprehensive training and support, including an initial training programme, ongoing training, marketing support, and access to proprietary software tools and resources. This support ensures that franchisees can effectively capture the market and operate successful centres.

Benjamin Simon, Regional Vice President of International at Mathnasium, highlighted the strategic importance of this expansion:

"Expanding into Romania is an exciting opportunity for us. The country's cultural emphasis on education, with over 50% of students in primary and secondary grades using tutoring services, shows their commitment to academic excellence that aligns perfectly with our mission.

"Additionally, Romania's growing middle class and franchise-friendly environment make it an ideal market for rapid expansion through Master Franchising. We are excited to bring our unique approach to math education to Romanian students and contribute to their academic success."
