LEGO Education unveils science solution to enhance hands-on Learning in K-8 classrooms

LEGO Education has launched LEGO Education Science, a new resource designed to support science education for students aged 5-14.

The program includes more than 120 lessons aligned with educational standards in the USA and will be available from August 2025.

Survey highlights issues in science education

A global survey by LEGO Education, the State of Classroom Engagement Report: Science Edition, identified challenges in science education. The survey found that 45% of students who listed science as their least favorite subject described it as "too hard," while 37% felt "bad at it." Among these students, 58% were girls, highlighting a gender gap in STEM fields.

73% of science teachers reported feeling unprepared to engage students effectively. Only 55% of students globally have access to hands-on learning opportunities in science classes.

LEGO Education Science

LEGO Education Science aims to improve access to hands-on learning. It includes LEGO bricks, hardware, and a Teacher Portal with lesson materials and presentations. Lessons align with the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) and other frameworks to integrate with existing curricula.

Victor Saeijs, President of LEGO Education, said:

"Science teaches us to ask curious questions to understand the world around us. If students think they're not good at the subject or avoid it, we risk losing an entire generation of innovators and problem-solvers. We share your commitment as educators to excite and engage students with high-quality science education."

Key features include:

  • Kits designed for groups of four students.

  • Lessons covering topics such as biomimicry, kinetic energy, and mitigating natural disasters.

  • Activities that encourage collaboration and critical thinking, starting with real-world questions.

Andrew Sliwinski, Head of Product Experience at LEGO Education, said, "One of the most powerful things we can do as educators is to instill a lifelong love of learning in our students.

"LEGO Education Science supports educators across the world to bring science standards to life in a new way with ready-made lessons and high quality, reusable LEGO bricks and hardware. I can't wait to see these learning experiences in the hands of students."

The program will be available globally starting August 2025.
