HealthStream acquires TCPS and The Clinical Hub to strengthen student clinical rotation services
HealthStream, a healthcare technology provider, has announced the acquisition of Total Clinical Placement System (TCPS) and The Clinical Hub, expanding its capabilities in clinical rotation management for healthcare students.
The acquisition integrates these platforms with HealthStream’s existing application, myClinicalExchange, acquired in 2020. Together, these resources aim to streamline the process of clinical placements for nursing and allied healthcare students, working closely with hospitals and educational institutions.
According to Scott McQuigg, Senior Vice President of Digital & Network Solutions at HealthStream:
“By adding the highly respected businesses of TCPS and The Clinical Hub to HealthStream, along with the continued growth of the myClinicalExchange application, we strengthen our position in supporting the development of future clinicians by working closely with academic institutions and healthcare organizations to efficiently facilitate clinical placement of students in rotations.
In the U.S., clinical rotations are a required component for students in healthcare programs, involving the coordination of placements, scheduling, onboarding, and credential verification for work in healthcare environments.
TCPS, The Clinical Hub, and myClinicalExchange facilitate these processes by connecting healthcare organizations and academic institutions, making it easier to manage the logistics of clinical education.
HealthStream’s myClinicalExchange has facilitated over 285,000 clinical rotations across the country this year. With the addition of TCPS and The Clinical Hub, HealthStream will expand its reach into regions including Tennessee and Oklahoma, broadening placement options for schools, hospitals, and students.
HealthStream acquired TCPS from Cyber Healthcare Solutions, LLC, for up to $1.65 million in cash, subject to post-closing adjustments and contingent upon specific earnout achievements. Similarly, The Clinical Hub was acquired for up to $600,000, with the full payment also tied to earnout targets and adjustments.
Pam Taylor, CEO of TCPS, said,“HealthStream’s leadership in the healthcare workforce sector is unparalleled and, therefore, they are ideally positioned to bring additional opportunities to the students, schools, and healthcare facilities that use TCPS.”
Jim Durbin, President of The Clinical Hub also noted, “Our clients will continue to receive the benefits they enjoy from The Clinical Hub while now gaining access to HealthStream’s ecosystem of workforce solutions that increasingly bridges the gap between school and practice.”
