Guild expands learning platform with acquisition of Nomadic and launches Guild Talent Advantage

Guild has announced a definitive agreement to acquire Nomadic Learning, a capability academy company, as part of its expansion strategy.

The acquisition will see Nomadic's offerings integrated into Guild’s platform, enhancing its education and skilling solutions for employers. The initiative is accompanied by the launch of Guild Talent Advantage, a new product suite aimed at addressing talent transformation priorities using AI-powered insights.

Guild’s acquisition of Nomadic will be integrated into its new Guild Academy product, a collaborative learning platform combining peer interaction, practical applications, and expert guidance. The academy will utilise Nomadic’s existing curriculum, delivered alongside Guild’s curated Learning Marketplace, to provide tailored learning solutions for organisations.

Speaking on the acquisition, Bijal Shah, CEO of Guild, stated:

“In this new era of work, employers must move with urgency and identify partners who can efficiently transform the way they build their talent across a diverse set of workforce needs and business objectives. Guild is building on our strengths of employee engagement and proven outcomes by expanding our product offerings with the acquisition of Nomadic.”

Guild Talent Advantage is positioned as an innovative product suite that integrates educational and skilling experiences with actionable talent insights. The suite is designed to offer companies a comprehensive approach to workforce development, addressing skills gaps and aligning learning investments with business needs. This new product suite also provides career resources and coaching to ensure employees not only gain knowledge but also apply it effectively in their roles.

The solution aims to offer a variety of skilling pathways, including foundational knowledge, job-specific skills, and cohort-based learning. It includes AI-powered insights to support companies in making data-driven decisions regarding workforce development and transformation.

Market impact and future plans

With the integration of Nomadic’s technology and content, Guild plans to enhance its market presence by expanding the reach of its educational offerings. Nomadic’s current client base, which includes organisations like AB InBev and Microsoft will gain access to Guild’s broader Learning Marketplace and Talent Advantage offerings.

Nomadic’s Co-founder and CEO, Matt Burr, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, saying:

“We are thrilled to become a part of the Guild team and about the ways Guild will help us bring Nomadic’s core offering to the next level by pairing our product with access to Guild’s vast Learning Marketplace.

“With Guild, our customers will be able to more efficiently build needed skills at scale—both individual skills and collective capabilities—by leveraging content in Guild’s Learning Marketplace and tailoring it to fit their specific business functions and context.”

A key feature of Guild Talent Advantage is its ability to provide in-depth talent insights. The platform assesses both current and future roles within an organisation, identifying skilling needs and potential risks related to automation and augmentation. This data-driven approach allows businesses to align their learning strategies with immediate operational needs and long-term business objectives.

Guild is enhancing its Talent Development Analytics to support employers in tracking employee learning progress and skills assessments, connecting workers with critical, in-demand roles. This approach ensures that learning investments translate into measurable business growth and sustained talent pipelines.

Josh Bersin, a current customer of Nomadic, previously collaborated with the company to establish the Josh Bersin Academy. He commented on Guild’s new initiative, saying:

“Guild’s acquisition of Nomadic and the launch of Guild Academy is an important move in the L&D and HR tech markets. As Guild couples its experience building career pathways for employees with this new platform, the company is poised to take a leadership position in the next generation of corporate learning solutions.”

The acquisition is expected to close in the coming weeks, pending standard closing conditions.
