GoHenry partners with Google Wallet to integrate financial education on Fitbit Ace LTE for kids

GoHenry by Acorns, a financial education app and debit card for children aged 6-18, has announced a collaboration with Google Wallet to integrate its services into the Fitbit Ace LTE smartwatch for kids in the U.S.

This partnership will enable children under 13 to use the Fitbit Ace LTE smartwatch to handle their money, supported by GoHenry's financial education tools. Parents can download the GoHenry app, register, and activate their child's debit card, which can then be added to Google Wallet via the Fitbit Ace app. This setup allows children to use Tap to Pay with their smartwatch to support learning money management skills.

The Fitbit Ace LTE smartwatch, designed for children aged 7-12, offers features like a digital wallet, movement goal rewards, and secure communication options. By integrating GoHenry's offerings, parents can set spending limits, monitor transactions, and manage allowances, ensuring their children learn financial responsibility. The smartwatch provides a smartphone-like experience without the full range of distractions, focusing on educational and safety features.

The collaboration follows Acorns' acquisition of GoHenry in 2023, which aimed to extend financial wellness tools to families.  Launched in 2012, GoHenry provides tools for earning, saving, spending responsibly, and charitable giving, all under parental supervision.

Noah Kerner, CEO of Acorns, stated:

"GoHenry empowers kids growing up in a digital world to learn about and use money in a safe environment. Our collaboration with Google Wallet brings this to life on a wearable payment device, embodying our mission to make every kid smart with money and providing parents with more tools to nurture healthy habits in their kids."

Ben Greenwood, Fitbit Ace LTE Product Lead, added:

"We're excited to collaborate with GoHenry to bring tap to pay capabilities to the Fitbit Ace LTE, giving parents a valuable tool to instil responsible spending habits and help kids gain confidence while they learn important money skills."
