Exabeam and CSE Connect launch cyber-security skills initiative to tackle UK talent shortage

Cyber-security company Exabeam, which specializes in AI-driven threat detection and security operations, has partnered with CSE Connect, a UK network that connects government, industry, and academia to improve cyber-security education.
The collaboration will equip students with practical skills in identifying and responding to cyber threats.
The team up will provide students with educational resources, including lectures and hands-on Capture the Flag (CTF) exercises, designed to develop expertise in threat detection, investigation, and response (TDIR). The training will also introduce learners to modern security operations tools and offer insights into how security teams handle emerging threats.
Kev Eley, Vice President UK & Ireland at Exabeam, said:
“Collaborative innovation between education and technology is key to tackling the ever-evolving threat landscape. As threats become more complex and targeted, investment in future cyber-security talent is essential to stay ahead of evolving risks.
“Our partnership with CSE Connect is all about nurturing skills, inspiring innovation, and expanding the impact of cyber-security education. We’re focused on making cyber-security more accessible in the UK with the end goal of strengthening national security.”
CSE Connect, which works to align student training with employer needs, is supported by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC). The network facilitates partnerships to bridge the skills gap in the sector, ensuring graduates gain experience relevant to industry demands.
Dr. Charles Clarke, Co-Founder at CSE Connect, said:
“Strong collaborative partnerships between industry and academia in cyber-security education are essential. They help to bridge skills gaps and better align graduate competencies with employer needs, ultimately strengthening our national cyber security capabilities. We are delighted to be working with Exabeam as an industry collaborator and look forward to broadening the scope of cyber-security education through their innovative Capture the Flag platform.”
The partnership is part of Exabeam’s wider efforts to support STEM education. It follows the company’s sponsorship of The National Museum of Computing (TNMoC), an initiative aimed at promoting greater inclusion in cyber-security careers.
