Compugen boosts Sun Youth with cutting-edge tech donation

Compugen has made a significant donation to Sun Youth, a Montreal charity supporting disadvantaged youth. The donation includes advanced hardware tech and services to support the charity’s educational and mentorship programmes.

Compugen has provided Microsoft Surface Hubs and services for configuration, deployment, and user training to help improve access to education and mentorship for children involved in Sun Youth’s initiatives.

Sun Youth offers various services, including sports programmes, tutoring, and mentorship for underprivileged children. One challenge they faced was delivering effective tutoring in the children’s native languages. The donation of Microsoft Surface Hubs enables remote tutoring and mentorship, connecting educators from different regions, such as Quebec City, with students without the need for travel.

By integrating Surface Hubs with Microsoft Teams, Sun Youth can now provide educational opportunities to students of diverse backgrounds and languages.

"At Compugen, we believe in the transformative power of technology to create equitable learning environments," said Stéphan Wener, Compugen VP Sales, Eastern Canada. "By providing these advanced tools, we are helping to bridge educational gaps and help young minds realise new possibilities."

Sun Youth's sports programmes, including basketball and football, will also benefit from the tech. Coaches can use the Surface Hub's touch and ink functions to conduct more effective training sessions.

A feature of the Microsoft Surface Hubs is their live translation capability, which provides real-time translation of spoken language. This ensures all students, regardless of the language spoken, can participate fully in mentorship and coaching sessions, removing language barriers to educational and developmental opportunities.

"We are incredibly grateful for Compugen's donation, which will greatly enhance our tutoring and mentorship programmes," said Johanne Saltarelli, Executive Director at Sun Youth. "This technology will enable us to reach more children and bridge educational gaps, ensuring that all youth have the support they need to succeed."

"Our commitment to being human-centred and technology-enabled drives us to make a difference in various sectors," added Wener. "The application of these technologies is almost limitless, benefiting not just education, but potentially any industry. At Compugen, we dream, design, and deliver solutions that open new possibilities for everyone."
