Compudopt and AT&T partner to provide students with essential educational tech

In an effort to bridge the digital divide and support educational equity, Compudopt and AT&T have paired up to distribute free laptops, backpacks, and online resources to 13,000 students across the United States.

Operating in 57 cities across 22 states, Compudopt has impacted hundreds of thousands of individuals through its programmes.

The initiative, part of AT&T’s Connected Learning Initiative, aims to equip students in nine states with the necessary tools for the upcoming school year.

Recent US Census data reveals that up to 21% of American households lack an in-home computer. This gap can pose a significant barrier to students' educational progress, impacting their ability to complete assignments, access learning resources, and communicate with educators. In response to this challenge, Compudopt and AT&T have come together to support students' educational experiences.

Through the partnership, pre-selected students in Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Texas, and Washington D.C. will receive refurbished laptops, backpacks filled with school supplies, and access to digital educational resources. The project is part of AT&T's Connected Learning Initiative, which focuses on enhancing digital literacy and educational outcomes.

The distribution of these resources will occur at community centres in the selected cities, ensuring that students receive their laptops and supplies in time for the new school year. Each laptop comes pre-loaded with educational resources, including AT&T’s free digital learning platform, The AchieverySM. Additionally, Compudopt will provide multi-language IT support and a two-year warranty to ensure that students can effectively utilise their new tools.

Megan Steckly, CEO of Compudopt, emphasised the importance of technology in modern education:

“Technology plays a critical role in students’ success today. We have to equip the next generation with the tools, training, and resources they need to become tomorrow’s business leaders, engineers, teachers, scientists, nurses, and more.

“That starts with technology access and education, and Compudopt is proud to partner with a powerhouse like AT&T to support thousands of students ahead of the 2024-2025 school year.”
