CollegeVine Expands AI platform to help universities cut costs and improve engagement

AI

CollegeVine, an AI platform for higher education, has announced the launch of two new AI agents designed to reduce operational costs and support student engagement and alumni relations at universities.

Building on the success of its existing AI Recruiter, which is currently utilised by over 95 institutions, the new AI agents—Advisor and Ambassador—aim to address increasing financial pressures on higher education.

Addressing the cost crisis

With average tuition costs for public universities up by 141% over the last 20 years, universities face mounting operational challenges as students and parents question the return on investment (ROI) of four-year college education. As a result, enrolment rates have declined, contributing to a rising number of college closures, which are occurring at a rate of roughly one institution per week.

CollegeVine’s latest AI expansion is part of its broader effort to lower administrative costs, a major driver of tuition increases, and increase accessibility to higher education.

AI agents for university workflows

CollegeVine’s AI platform now features three agents, each addressing a different phase of the student journey—from recruitment to graduation and beyond. The AI agents aim to streamline processes and offer personalised support, potentially saving universities both time and resources.

  • AI Recruiter: Launched in May, this agent facilitates personalised recruitment journeys for prospective students.

  • AI Advisor: Designed to work with enrolled students, the AI Advisor supports students throughout their university experience to drive retention and enhance academic success.

  • AI Ambassador: The AI Ambassador works with alumni, fostering lifelong institutional connections and helping universities build sustained alumni engagement.

Together, these AI agents integrate with various university systems, including Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Student Information Systems (SIS), and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP).

“At CollegeVine, our ultimate mission is to make higher education more accessible to students, and right now prohibitive costs are deterring enrolment and threatening the survival of schools,” said Zack Perkins, co-founder and CEO of CollegeVine. “To correct this, we must go inside the machine and fundamentally rearchitect the higher education operating system. That’s why we are expanding our AI agents to take on a greater diversity of workflows across the university.”
