Cambridge Advance Online opens registration for February 2025 Data Science and Machine Learning courses

Cambridge Advance Online, part of the University of Cambridge, has opened registration for its February 2025 intake, offering four courses focused on data science and machine learning: Generative AI in Business, Leveraging Big Data for Business Intelligence, NLP in Customer Analytics and Forecasting, and Human–Computer Interaction (HCI) for AI Systems Design. 

The courses designed for professionals looking to develop their skills in these areas, and are led by University of Cambridge academics and focus on flexible, online learning.

The programme provides professionals the opportunity to engage with courses tailored to topics including generative AI, big data, natural language processing (NLP), and human-computer interaction (HCI). They are structured to equip participants with practical, business-oriented skills in data science and machine learning, using current advancements in technology and learning design.

Available Courses

  1. Generative AI in Business
    This course focuses on generative AI’s application in business settings, explaining fundamental principles and highlighting potential benefits and challenges. It is co-led by Professor Per Ola Kristensson, Henry Ajder, and Professor Jonathan M Cullen. The target audience includes senior executives, entrepreneurs, innovation managers, and technology professionals.

  2. Leveraging Big Data for Business Intelligence
    Participants in this course will explore how to apply data science and machine learning techniques to enhance business decision-making and product development. Key topics include user-driven data and strategies for applying these insights to improve business outcomes. The course is led by Dr Russell Hunter, a Senior Software Engineer and researcher at the University of Cambridge. It is well suited for professionals aiming to integrate data science techniques into business contexts.

  3. NLP in Customer Analytics and Forecasting
    This course covers the use of Natural Language Processing (NLP) to analyse customer sentiment and predict business trends. Participants will learn how to utilise tools such as BigQuery and SQL to evaluate marketing data and improve customer understanding. Dr Russell Hunter leads this course, which is intended for individuals looking to deepen their understanding of customer analytics using data science and NLP techniques.

  4. Human–Computer Interaction (HCI) for AI Systems Design
    This course is designed for professionals involved in product development and AI systems design. Topics include automation, risk analysis, and user experience, with a focus on integrating AI into systems that support user goals. The course is led by Professor Per Ola Kristensson and is aimed at senior professionals in fields like product design, system development, healthcare, and technology.

The courses are offered entirely online, with a combination of academic-led seminars, peer collaboration, and individual study. Each course runs for six to eight weeks, with an expected study commitment of six to eight hours per week. Optional live sessions are available to support learning.
