WowMouse Presenter transforms Wear OS smartwatches into gesture-controlled remotes for presentations

Doublepoint, a company specialising in gesture detection technology, has introduced WowMouse Presenter, an app designed to transform Wear OS smartwatches into gesture-controlled remotes for PowerPoint and Google Slides presentations.

The app allows presenters to navigate slides using simple hand movements, offering a hands-free approach that can be useful in both professional and educational settings.

This app builds on the original WowMouse, which has accumulated over 70,000 downloads and holds a 4.6/5 rating on Google Play. The updated version aims to improve presentation management by removing the need for remotes or clickers, making it easier for users to focus on their content and engage with their audience.

“We believe that gesture recognition in wearables is just getting started,” said Ohto Pentikäinen, founder and CEO of Doublepoint. “The applications of this technology will significantly enhance single-handed watch operations and open up a thriving ecosystem of entirely new applications like WowMouse Presenter, empowering users to fully harness the potential of their Wear OS smartwatches.”

Gesture-controlled presentations

WowMouse Presenter enables presenters to control slides using intuitive hand gestures. This function eliminates the need for separate remotes or other hardware, allowing users to move between slides, pause, and go back with simple movements. The app is designed to work in various settings, from classrooms to business meetings.

The gesture detection technology provides a more integrated solution, allowing users to stay focused on their presentations without being distracted by additional gadgets. The app also aims to simplify presentation delivery, making it more accessible for users who already own a Wear OS smartwatch.

Doublepoint continues to explore new uses for gesture detection in wearable technology. WowMouse Presenter is part of a broader strategy to enhance how users interact with their devices. The company views wearables as an area of growth, with gesture control being a key aspect of that expansion.

Ohto Pentikäinen explained, “By enhancing our gesture detection technology, we’ve made it even easier for presenters to deliver without needing additional devices. We’re excited to see how others will build on this in the growing world of gesture recognition.”

For educators, WowMouse Presenter could offer a convenient way to control lessons or presentations without needing to manage multiple devices. The app’s hands-free control system allows teachers to move around the classroom and interact with students while managing their presentation materials.

“ By enhancing our gesture detection technology, we’ve made it even easier for presenters to deliver without needing additional devices,” Pentikäinen said. “We’re excited to see how others will build on this in the growing world of gesture recognition.”
