Udemy & Amazon Web Services team up for cutting-edge AI leadership programme

Udemy, a leading online skills marketplace, has partnered with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to introduce a new generative artificial intelligence upskilling programme.

The six-week course, titled "Unlocking GenAI Opportunities with AWS," is designed for leaders across industries to develop generative AI (GenAI) tools and strategies.

Maureen Lonergan, Vice President of Training and Certification at AWS, commented:

“Generative AI is the most transformative technology we’re likely to see in our lifetimes. Leaders who build their knowledge, skills, and a mindset of resilience and adaptability, will position themselves—and their organisations—to harness its immense potential.

“We’re excited to work with Udemy to realise a shared vision of building a global, AI-ready workforce. Unlocking GenAI Opportunities with AWS is an ideal starting point for leaders everywhere to build their generative AI strategy and set their organisation on a path of accelerated innovation.”

Organisations that fail to leverage GenAI may face reduced profitability, talent attrition, slower product development, loss of market share, and supply chain disruptions, necessary for driving digital transformation.

A recent report revealed that 71% of executives identified GenAI as a top investment area for 2024, however an Udemy report has revealed nearly half of employees doubted their senior management’s readiness to harness GenAI opportunities.

The "Unlocking GenAI Opportunities with AWS" programme is part of the Udemy Business Leadership Academy (UBLA). The programme aims to bridge the GenAI skills gap by equipping leaders with the necessary skills and communication strategies, through three main learning objectives.

Participants will engage in practical exercises using PartyRock, powered by Amazon Bedrock. This module will teach leaders how to use GenAI tools to reimagine business processes, boost productivity, and create new business models. Amazon Bedrock provides a managed service with high-performing foundation models (FMs) and capabilities to build generative AI applications securely.

The programme includes creating operating principles and responsible use guidelines to foster innovation. Leaders will participate in hands-on learning experiences, such as an "innovation tournament," to convert ideas into actionable plans.

Leaders will learn to develop clear messaging around their GenAI vision to inspire and engage their teams. The focus will be on building a company culture open to changes brought by GenAI.

The programme combines self-paced learning modules with social learning, including purpose-built groups and micro-learning courses. Certified expert moderators will provide guidance, and participants will have opportunities to present and prioritise ideas, address AI misconceptions, and design strategies.

Greg Brown, President and CEO at Udemy, stated:

"GenAI is revolutionising industries and transforming the business landscape at an unprecedented pace. The UBLA cohort programme, developed in collaboration with AWS, will equip leadership teams with the skills they need to navigate this transformation successfully while fostering innovation, enhancing productivity, and driving revenue growth.

“We are thrilled to be working in collaboration with AWS to support organisations around the world, helping to drive strategic outcomes and inspire their teams to achieve new heights."
