Tyra Banks smizes at TWEF Summit, raising $300K for scholarships

The Texas Women’s Empowerment Foundation (TWEF) recently celebrated its 20th Annual International Women’s Leadership Summit.
The Texas Women’s Empowerment Foundation is a nonprofit organisation dedicated to mentoring families from all walks of life, helping them achieve their fullest potential in personal development, business, education, finances, and socio-economic development. TWEF also offers scholarships and empowerment programmes for families.
The event, co-chaired by TWEF founder Deavra Daughtry and philanthropist Reggie Van Lee, was a resounding success, raising over $300,000 for the TWEF Eagle Scholar Programme.
The sold-out summit featured special guest Tyra Banks, who shared her journey from supermodel to successful entrepreneur and Emmy award-winning television personality.
Banks inspired attendees with her stories of resilience and reinvention during a fireside chat moderated by Fox Houston's Damali Keith. The luncheon, emceed by Fox Houston's Caroline Collins, was a central highlight of the event.
The summit began with a private VIP reception honouring "Men Who Empower Her," followed by a VIP Business Soiree hosted by Harvard University alumni. Attendees also participated in interactive sessions with global entrepreneurs and business executives.
Notable guests included Orime Fujita, CEO of a 150-year-old Japanese company, television producer Ron DeShay, and Rhiza Pascua, Managing Director of Live Nation Philippines.
During the luncheon, Deavra Daughtry presented Tyra Banks with the 2024 International Leadership Award and Rhiza Pascua with the 2024 International Business Leadership Award. The event concluded with a surprise $10,000 scholarship award to a TWEF Eagle Scholar, highlighting the summit’s impact on young leaders.
The funds raised from the summit will directly benefit the TWEF Eagle Scholar Programme, which has awarded over $400,000 in scholarships to college-bound students since its inception.
