Safe Pro Group and Kyiv Polytechnic Institute (KPI) have signed a multi-year Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on artificial intelligence and drone technology for demining, environmental safety, agriculture, and infrastructure reconstruction in Ukraine.

Advancing AI-powered demining and infrastructure reconstruction

KPI, Ukraine’s largest technical university, will work with Safe Pro to implement AI-driven survey methodologies and training programs focused on humanitarian demining. The collaboration will also explore the use of AI technology in environmental safety, agriculture, rare earth geology, and infrastructure reconstruction.

Safe Pro’s SpotlightAI operates on Amazon Web Services (AWS) and processes drone images at high speed to detect explosive remnants of war (ERW). The software has already analyzed over 1 million drone images in Ukraine, identifying more than 20,000 ERWs across 4,355 hectares.

Dan Erdberg, Chairman and CEO of Safe Pro Group Inc., said:

“Safe Pro is proud to collaborate with KPI, one of the foremost research institutions of its kind in Ukraine and with its talented team who are dedicated to leveraging cutting-edge innovations such as our AI-powered small object threat detection technology into a truly modern approach to demining.”

Strengthening training and research programs

Under the agreement, Safe Pro and KPI will combine expertise in AI-powered drone imagery analysis with humanitarian demining training. The initiative may also include the creation of a virtual reality training center to help train demining personnel and enhance situational awareness in high-risk areas.

Anatolii Melnychenko, Rector of KPI, stated:

“As one of the first research organizations in Ukraine to formally create comprehensive training programs for humanitarian demining personnel, we immediately recognized the revolutionary impact that AI-powered technologies can have on improving the speed and effectiveness of locating and identifying landmines and unexploded ordnance. We look forward to working with Safe Pro as we seek to integrate advanced technologies and modernize humanitarian demining and help train the next generation of brave men and women who are committed to eliminating the threat of landmines in Ukraine.”

AI-powered mapping and operational efficiency

Safe Pro’s SpotlightAI ecosystem is designed for rapid detection of over 150 types of landmines and unexploded ordnance. It provides high-resolution orthomosaic mapping and GPS-tagged 2D and interactive 3D maps to assist in demining operations. The cloud-based platform enables real-time data processing, offering a scalable solution for governments and humanitarian aid organizations.
