Natixis Investment Managers (Natixis IM) has announced the recipients of its Global Equal Opportunities Advancement Scholarship for 2024.

Four students from the Boston area have each received a $5,000 renewable scholarship, which can be applied to college tuition and expenses. In addition, the students will have access to internship and mentoring opportunities at Natixis IM.

The scholarship programme is part of Natixis IM’s broader efforts to increase diversity within the firm and the financial services industry. Since its launch in 2020, the programme has provided over 20 students with financial support and career opportunities.

The recipients of the 2024 scholarships are:

  • Galilea Ticas, who is pursuing a degree in Managerial Economics at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. Ticas looks forward to exploring various career paths through the opportunities provided by the scholarship.

  • Leem Bashir, a first-year business student at the University of Massachusetts-Lowell. Bashir, inspired by her parents who are first-generation immigrants, values education and financial literacy and hopes to inspire others.

  • Mario Gonzalez, a junior at Northeastern University majoring in Finance and Marketing. Gonzalez is interested in understanding how wealth impacts communities and aims to create positive economic growth.

  • Markus Facey-Castillo, a student at Bentley University, balances his academic pursuits with participation in various campus clubs and organisations. He is eager to expand his professional network through the scholarship programme.

In addition to the scholarship programme, Natixis IM partners with organisations such as The Equity Collective, The Partnership, and charter schools like the Academy of the Pacific Rim and the Life Learning Academy to support underrepresented students and professionals.

The firm has been recognised for its efforts in diversity and inclusion, receiving honours such as the InvestmentNews Excellence in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Awards and the Boston Business Journal’s Corporate Citizenship Awards.

Natixis IM’s US scholarship programme is designed in partnership with Bottom Line, a Boston-based nonprofit that assists first-generation students from under-resourced communities in pursuing higher education and career development in business and related fields. A similar programme is implemented in the UK in partnership with Haringey Community Gold and The London Academy of Excellence Tottenham.

Susan St. Germain, Executive Vice President of Human Resources at Natixis IM, welcomed the scholarship recipients to the company’s Boston offices.

“We were delighted to welcome the US awardees of our 2024 scholarship to our Boston offices. We believe our scholarship programme, which provides essential financial support as well as introductions to a broad array of career paths, inspires future graduates and helps deepen the pool of diverse job candidates within the asset management industry.” she said.
