Mrs Wordsmith names New President and Chief Customer Officer to drive Literacy innovation

Mrs Wordsmith has promoted Brandon Cardet-Hernandez to President and appointed Aimée Bryan as Chief Customer Officer, effective immediately.

The appointments aim to support the company's focus on advancing literacy through evidence-based tools.

Founded in 2015, Mrs Wordsmith creates educational content to improve reading and writing for children aged 4-11, offering books, games, and apps.

Brandon Cardet-Hernandez joined Mrs Wordsmith in 2023 as Chief Strategy Officer. He has a background in education policy and administration, having served as Senior Education Advisor to former New York City Mayor Bill DeBlasio and Director of Strategic Initiatives for the NYC Department of Education.

He has also worked as a special education teacher and led two high schools through significant reforms. He currently serves on the Boston School Board.

Aimée Bryan, who most recently worked at LEGO leading product innovation in the Creative Play Lab, will be joining as Chief Customer Officer. She is also the founder of an award-winning edtech and healthtech company.

These leadership changes follow a series of recent initiatives by Mrs Wordsmith. The company launched Word Tag, a vocabulary video game now available in over 60% of U.S. school districts through a partnership with the ed-tech platform Clever.

Additionally, they partnered with Roblox to launch Words of Power, a social-emotional learning vocabulary-building game. TIME Magazine recognised Mrs Wordsmith as one of the World's Top EdTech companies for 2024.

Cardet-Hernandez and Bryan will focus on increasing engagement with customers and schools, promoting Mrs Wordsmith's educational products, including books, tabletop games, and video games. Using a science-based approach to literacy learning, they aim to drive growth in global markets and across the U.S.

"Literacy is one of the world's great equalisers, and I firmly believe game-based learning is an essential tool in this mission," said Pierre Lagrange, Executive Chairman of Mrs Wordsmith.

"I can't think of two more experienced and driven professionals to take the reins of our strategic growth plans and help ensure our products are in more homes and classrooms."

Cardet-Hernandez commented on his new role:

"I've spent my career committed to ensuring that kids win. We know that strong literacy skills are the bedrock for advancing economic and health outcomes. I'm excited and honoured to lead our stellar team at Mrs Wordsmith in creating data-driven, science-backed tools that empower students, teachers, and parents to achieve.

“It's a gift to work alongside Pierre, Aimée, and the entire Mrs Wordsmith team to continue growing our products' impact and getting our tools in young people's hands. Together, we can close the opportunity gaps rooted in sub-literacy and strengthen lifelong learning."

Bryan expressed her enthusiasm about joining the company:

"Mrs Wordsmith presents me with the perfect opportunity to combine my passion for learning through play - arming the next generation with the skills they need to change our world for the better, and to showcase the power of tech for good. I can't wait to get started."
