Moulin Rouge! launches new academy and returns with Get Technical! event
Global Creatures, the producer of Moulin Rouge! The Musical has announced the return of its successful event, Get Technical! Behind the Curtain of Moulin Rouge! The Musical, and the launch of a new immersive training programme, the Get Technical! Academy.
Both initiatives aim to provide aspiring theatre professionals with unique opportunities to explore the technical aspects of theatre production and gain hands-on experience in various backstage roles.
Get Technical! provides attendees with the chance to hear from the production’s backstage and technical teams, watch live on-stage demonstrations, and learn about the various components that contribute to the creation of the West End's leading musical.
The event covers departments such as wigs, wardrobe, sound, and stage management, aiming to inspire young people to consider backstage careers in the performing arts industry.
Participants will gain insights into how different technical departments collaborate to bring the production to life and will be given a behind-the-scenes look at some of the show's stage secrets and techniques.
Additionally, members of the backstage and technical teams will share their career experiences and offer tips on entering the industry.
In addition to the Get Technical! the event, Global Creatures is launching the Get Technical! Academy with Moulin Rouge! The Musical. This new 10-week immersive technical programme is designed for individuals aged 15–25 and will run from 2nd July 2024, at the Piccadilly Theatre. Sessions will take place on Tuesday afternoons from 2 pm to 4 pm.
The Get Technical! The academy will provide participants with hands-on training from Heads of Departments and industry experts, covering areas such as lighting, sound, automation, stage management, and working as part of a stage performance crew. The programme aims to equip participants with the skills needed to become West End technicians.
Throughout the 10-week programme, participants can learn from the technical team behind Moulin Rouge! The Musical and ATG Entertainment West End Creative Learning. For those aged 18 and over, an optional additional week will be available to meet company management team members and explore the soft skills necessary for launching a career in technical theatre.
Both Get Technical! and the Get Technical! Academy are presented by Global Creatures in partnership with ATG Entertainment Creative Learning.
