FULL ADHD: A Mobile Game to Raise ADHD Awareness Launched in Germany

Psyon Games and Takeda have announced the launch of 'FULL ADHD' in Germany, a mobile game designed to increase awareness about ADHD. It follows its initial introduction in Finland, where it was downloaded over 40,000 times.

The game won 'The Most Valuable Patient Education Award' at the Reuters Pharma Europe 2022 event. 'FULL ADHD' was developed in consultation with individuals diagnosed with ADHD, a psychiatrist, and the Finnish ADHD patient association, aiming to provide insights into the condition through gameplay.

President of The World Federation of ADHD, Stephen V. Faraone, Ph.D., Distinguished Professor and Vice Chair for Research at Norton College of Medicine, SUNY Upstate Medical University, said: "For decades, adults living with ADHD have suffered from stigma due to misinformation from the media and ingrained attitudes about mental illness.

“I was very pleased to learn that Psyon Games and Takeda have created an innovative approach to battle stigma via FULL ADHD, an innovative, engaging mobile game that will improve public awareness about ADHD in adults through empathetic gameplay and real-life stories."

In 'FULL ADHD', players engage with Eddie a character with ADHD, exploring challenges related to cognitive functions such as focus, effort, memory, and emotion regulation.

User feedback, including that from Ulla Bracellari, an ADHD advocate, points to the game's potential for therapeutic impact and its effectiveness in depicting relatable experiences for individuals with ADHD:

"At times I laughed like crazy because the events of the game brought up so many relatable memories. Some of the experiences displayed are still a part of everyday life. In a way, the game was extremely therapeutic for me."

The collaboration between Psyon Games and Takeda leverages mobile gaming to educate about ADHD; Olli Rundgren,  CEO & Founder at Psyon Games, expressed optimism about the partnership's ability to increase ADHD visibility in Germany:

“Collaborating with a global innovative pharmaceutical company to launch this game across Germany is a fantastic opportunity. We are looking forward to progressing this partnership further and achieving our mission of increasing visibility of ADHD issues. Hearing from patients and family members about how the game helped them to understand the day-to-day experiences of an individual living with ADHD is incredibly fulfilling.”

Daria Radant, Franchise Head Neuroscience, Takeda Germany, said: “This launch furthers Takeda's commitment to serving the ADHD community. We are greatly seeking to foster deeper understanding and awareness of living with ADHD within the German community. We are very proud to commence with the German launch and helping the German public to navigate ADHD issues.”
