M80 and IMG Academy level up e-sports training with new boot camp for aspiring pros

M80, an international e-sports organization, has partnered with IMG Academy, a sports education and training institution, to launch a new esports training camp.

IMG Academy, known for developing student-athletes through structured coaching and academic programs, will host the three-week camp at its Bradenton, Florida campus. The program combines online education and in-person training for players aiming to improve their competitive gaming skills.

Program structure and registration

The training program consists of a two-week online course followed by a one-week in-person boot camp. Participants will specialize in one of three esports titles: VALORANT, Rocket League, or League of Legends.

Registration is now open, with sessions scheduled as follows:

  • VALORANT: Online access starts May 26, in-person camp runs June 9–13.

  • Rocket League: Online access starts June 2, in-person camp runs June 16–20.

  • League of Legends: Online access starts June 9, in-person camp runs June 23–27.

M80 Founder and CEO Marco Mereu said the initiative is designed to create pathways for young players in esports:

“Providing the structure needed for the growth of generational talent is critical to developing esports in North America, and M80 is proud to be leading the charge. With over 300 universities offering esports scholarships in North America, there’s never been a more important time to provide a path to those opportunities, both in professional and collegiate play.”

Training and player development

Participants will receive coaching from M80’s Vice President of E-sports Don “Syyko” Muir and Mind Body Esports Clinical Director Edward Cleland. The program integrates game-specific training, physical conditioning, and mental performance coaching.

Chris Ciaccio, Chief Commercial Officer at IMG Academy, said the partnership brings structured development to esports:

“IMG Academy is the perfect setting for a high-performance e-sports camp—combining our expertise in holistic personal development with M80’s elite in-game training. Together, we’re equipping students with the tools to succeed in the fast-evolving world of esports while providing valuable life skills that will benefit them in all aspects of life.”

M80 Co-Owner and professional athlete Daniil Medvedev emphasized the need for a comprehensive training approach:

“As a professional athlete and a competitive gamer, I know that esports requires a unique blend of physical and mental performance. I’m excited M80 is partnering with a sports powerhouse like IMG Academy to reinforce how much goes into training the next generation of esports pros – in the gym, in the classroom, and in the game.”
