Engineering Tomorrow, a nonprofit dedicated to promoting engineering careers among high school students, has appointed Sean MacCready as Director of Development.
In the position, he will lead efforts to expand the organization’s partnerships with corporations, educational institutions, and philanthropic supporters.
The appointment follows Engineering Tomorrow’s transition from a privately operated foundation to a public charity, a shift aimed at increasing collaboration with external partners. The organization provides STEM education programs and hands-on engineering labs at no cost to schools across the United States.
Expanding access to engineering education
Since its founding in 2014, Engineering Tomorrow has engaged over 2.5 million students in STEM-focused learning experiences. The nonprofit’s free engineering labs, led by industry professionals, are designed to introduce students to real-world engineering applications.
Megan Barrett, Executive Director of Engineering Tomorrow, said:
“The need for capable engineers across a number of sectors is as urgent as ever, and our work with corporate partners, especially those with a vested interest in the pipeline of engineering talent, is vital to ensuring our programming is industry-relevant and targets the most pressing talent gaps.
“Sean is a proven expert in building and developing meaningful partnerships, and his addition to the team represents Engineering Tomorrow’s commitment to our growth trajectory and to increasing our reach and impact.”
MacCready brings two decades of experience in fundraising, partnership development, and donor relations. Most recently, he served as Executive Director of Scholar and Donor Services at the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, where he launched individual giving initiatives. He has also held leadership roles in fundraising at institutions including the University of Illinois Chicago, the University of Notre Dame, and St. Ignatius College Prep.
MacCready said about the position:
“Engineering Tomorrow is well known for its significant positive impact on students’ lives and its innovative model for bolstering America’s engineering workforce. I am excited to collaborate closely with Engineering Tomorrow’s entire team and our philanthropic partners to elevate and advance the organization’s strategic goals and catalyze the next phase of growth.”
