Coventry University expands in Singapore with new PSB Academy team-up and paramedic training deal
Event highlights new technology-equipped facility and agreement to advance paramedic education
PSB Academy, a private education institution in Singapore, has formally launched its new Cathay Campus with a visit from senior Coventry University representatives, including Vice-Chancellor and Group CEO Professor John Latham CBE.
Located within Singapore’s Cathay Building, the new site features motion-tracking classroom technology intended to simulate face-to-face engagement for remote learners. The launch event also included a leadership forum hosted by Coventry University’s Singapore Hub and the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) focused on paramedic education.
PSB Academy currently collaborates with Coventry University to offer approximately 20 UK-accredited programs across subjects including business, engineering, cyber security, and paramedic science. Graduates receive Coventry University degree certificates identical to those awarded in the UK.
Professor Latham said:
“We’ve worked closely with PSB Academy for more than a decade and it’s a collaboration we value immensely. Over the years we’ve provided valuable qualifications that have served to positively change lives in Singapore and support its economy and services.
“We are very proud to have built positive relationships with respected organisations right across the globe, an approach that not only benefits communities overseas, but also our students in the UK through the sharing of best teaching and research practices."
Agreement targets paramedicine workforce needs
As part of the launch visit, Coventry University and PSB Academy signed an MoU aimed at expanding education in paramedic science. The agreement is framed as a response to rising emergency call volumes and reported workforce shortages in Singapore’s healthcare sector.
The initiative builds on ten years of collaboration between the two institutions, which was marked during a joint celebration in September. PSB Academy describes its approach as industry-focused, with a goal of preparing graduates for employment in key sectors.
Derrick Chang, Chief Executive Officer of PSB Academy, said:
“The Cathay Campus represents an important evolution in PSB Academy’s mission to cultivate industry-ready graduates that are trained with practical skills for real-world applications. Industry collaborations underpin our approach to education. This expansion of our facilities ensures that students have access to a learning environment that not only meets academic standards but also reflects the needs of today’s workforce.”
