South Carolina Department of Education Chooses YuJa for Statewide Virtual Learning Enhancement
The South Carolina Department of Education (SCDE) has selected YuJa, Inc. to deploy its Enterprise Video Platform across the VirtualSC programme.
The South Carolina Department of Education is led by State Superintendent of Education Ellen Weaver. SCDE states that:
“VirtualSC was established to provide South Carolina students with flexible and rigorous online learning opportunities that will help them acquire the knowledge, skills and characteristics necessary for college and career readiness. As a supplemental program, VirtualSC works with diploma-granting public, private, and home schools to provide online courses for high school credit.”
The decision followed a detailed request for proposal (RFP) process, aiming to update the Department's video hosting capabilities with a comprehensive video content management system.
The SCDE outlined specific requirements for its new video hosting solution, focusing on a scalable, cloud-based platform that could support a variety of video types. The system needed to integrate seamlessly with Moodle courses through OpenLMS, the Department's learning management system, and include features like a video portal and the ability to embed videos on external sites.
The Department also emphasised the need for 24/7 support to address technical issues, maintenance, and upgrades without service disruption.
YuJa's Enterprise Video Platform will work with VirtualSC's educational resources by facilitating the creation and management of multimedia content. The platform will support lecture capture, auto-captioning, video quizzing, and embedding videos into OpenLMS. It aims to streamline operations for course designers and instructors.
Nathan Arora, Chief Business Officer at YuJa, Inc., commented on the selection, stating:
"Organisational leaders were impressed with YuJa’s ability to not only meet expectations but to exceed them, providing the opportunity to future-proof the organisation with a scalable, all-in-one Video Platform that will benefit students and instructors statewide."
