San Jose Earthquakes partners with Udemy to boost educational access in Bay Area

The San Jose Earthquakes has announced a new partnership with Udemy, an online learning platform. This multi-year agreement appoints Udemy as the Official Learning and Skills Partner and the Official Training Jersey Partner of the team. Klutch Sports Group facilitated the partnership.

As part of this partnership, Udemy logos will be displayed on all first-team training jerseys and warm-up tops. The collaboration also aims to enhance access to education by providing subsidised access to more than 220,000 courses on the Udemy platform, focusing on essential skills like those offered by Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Ian Anderson, Chief Strategy Officer at the San Jose Earthquakes, commented on the partnership:

“Udemy is a global technology brand dedicated to transforming lives through learning and democratising access to education and skills, with a strong commitment to the Bay Area. We are looking forward to working together to make a meaningful impact across our joint home region, providing communities with access to a variety of technical, leadership, and professional content on the Udemy platform.”

Genefa Murphy, Chief Marketing Officer at Udemy, stated:

“This partnership with the San Jose Earthquakes showcases our commitment to empowering historically underserved communities in the Bay Area with access to cutting-edge learning and skills. Together, we're bridging the skills gap and ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to develop the in-demand skills they need to thrive in today's hyper-competitive job market and rapidly evolving digital landscape.”

The partnership also introduces a year-round education initiative that will roll out across several Quakes game events. These include a $10,000 contribution from Udemy to the Quakes Foundation at the Cinco De Mayo Celebration Match, complimentary course credits during Pride Night, and similar offerings for military members and their families at the California Clasico, in conjunction with Operation Care & Comfort.

Udemy will distribute complimentary course credits to the local Hispanic community during the September 21 game in observance of National Hispanic Heritage Month.
