Pipedrive Expands School of Code to Prague to Bridge Tech Education Gap

Pipedrive, a sales CRM provider for small businesses, has expanded its School of Code internship and mentoring programme to Prague, Czechia. The initiative is designed for individuals seeking to enter the tech industry, offering training in Pipedrive's technology stack to bridge the gap between educational achievements and practical work requirements.

The programme's introduction in Prague follows its initial launch in Estonia, marking Pipedrive's first international expansion of this initiative. Prague was selected based on its developing tech industry.

Mykhailo Dorokhov, Engineering Learning & Development Lead at Pipedrive, mentioned the goal of replicating the programme's success and finding potential talent in Prague:

“The digital transformation of businesses is faster than ever before, and it is a great opportunity for many companies. However, adopting new technologies tends to increase the learning gap in ICT education. Without hands-on practical training, it’s disproportionately harder for young people to enter the job market and keep up with the competition.

“The internship should be a full experience. It will allow participants to dive not only into the depths of the technology we work with at Pipedrive but also learn about the culture, history and the people who create this magic on a daily basis. We aim to encourage participants to explore software development by combining intensive training with hands-on real-world tasks,”

The School of Code aims to address the increasing learning gap in ICT education due to rapid digital transformation by offering practical training. It combines intensive coursework with real-world tasks to prepare participants for the job market.

Natalie Zacharova, a software engineer at Pipedrive Prague, will lead the programme's third season. She highlighted the importance of mentoring in learning new technologies and supporting participants through their journey into the tech industry:

“I’ve been lucky enough to experience both sides of the mentor-mentee relationship. I know how important it is to jump into the tech world with an open mind and a can-do attitude. However, it’s equally important to support young people throughout their journey, helping them transition to new heights and not letting them forget about staying curious about everything along the way. I’m very excited about the School of Code coming to Prague and the opportunity to start a new chapter in my career.”

The 11-week programme covers TypeScript, databases, and both back-end and front-end development. It aims to equip participants with software development fundamentals, teamwork, and problem-solving skills in an agile environment. The programme is open to 10 participants and offers a paid internship conducted in English.

Feedback from the programme's initial cohorts in Estonia has been positive, with Pipedrive hiring several participants as junior software engineers.

Dorokhov states, "Our commitment to nurturing future tech talent reflects our belief in the importance of practical experience in education. We look forward to the contributions and growth of the participants in Prague."
