Neuhaus Education Center promotes Dr. Catherine Hungerford Scott to Chief Academic Officer

Neuhaus Education Center, a non-profit organisation dedicated to promoting reading success for all, has announced the promotion of Dr. Catherine Hungerford Scott, CALT, Reading Specialist, to Chief Academic Officer. 

In her new capacity, Dr. Scott will oversee Neuhaus's programming, including the departments of Professional Development and Certification, Curriculum and Instructional Design, Academic Research, Family Support, and Adult Literacy.

Catherine deeply understands the nature of translating the science of reading research to classroom practice.

“She has leveraged curriculum design as a visionary by activating technology to extend the reach of our learning organization. Catherine’s expertise will take Neuhaus Education Center to new levels because she understands the importance of a literacy safety net in support of every educator and member of our community and country. Catherine is a thought leader who is a part of solving our nation’s literacy crisis.”

Dr. Scott has been a pivotal figure at Neuhaus since she joined in 2008, initially as part of the Instructional Staff. Her involvement with Neuhaus began in 2003 when she attended her first class at the Centre as a classroom teacher.

 After obtaining her certification as a dyslexia therapist, she transitioned into curriculum development in 2012 and has been leading the Curriculum and Instructional Design team since 2019 as Vice President of Curriculum, Instructional Design, and Research.

During her tenure, Dr. Scott spearheaded the creation of a new dyslexia certification programme accredited by the International Dyslexia Association and oversaw the development of the Structured Reading and Spelling programme, designed specifically for teachers of high school students and adults.
