Kinaxis Recognized for AI and machine learning co-op program with Carleton University award
Carleton University has named Kinaxis its 2024 Co-op Employer of the Year, recognizing the company’s role in providing students with work experience in AI and machine learning.
The award acknowledges Kinaxis’s involvement in the university’s co-op program, which offers students the opportunity to work on supply chain technology projects.
The nomination for Kinaxis was submitted by Oz Kilic, a Master of Computer Science (Data Science) student and Kinaxis co-op Machine Learning Developer, who credited the company for providing mentorship and a work environment that allowed him to contribute to real-world projects:
“During my co-op at Kinaxis, I had the freedom to explore ‘crazy ideas’ while developing real-world solutions. Their supportive environment and outstanding mentorship made me feel both challenged and motivated, enabling me to transform an ambitious concept into a high-impact project.
“Kinaxis truly bridges academic research and industry practice, creating a space where cutting-edge technologies meet meaningful business challenges. It’s easily one of the best co-op experiences for any Computer Science student interested in machine learning and data science.”
Kinaxis’s participation in Carleton’s co-op program
Kinaxis has been involved in Carleton University’s Co-operative Education program, providing students with work opportunities focused on AI and machine learning in supply chain management. Students in the program work on projects aligned with industry applications, gaining experience with technology used in supply chain orchestration.
The company’s co-op program includes mentorship and training, with Kinaxis team members guiding students in applying AI solutions to supply chain challenges. Kilic’s nomination noted the role of Kinaxis team member Sébastien Ouellet in supporting his work.
Carleton University’s Co-operative Education Office recognized Kinaxis for its role in student development and experiential learning. The university cited the company’s structured work environment and industry engagement as factors in its selection.
