Cross River and Visa educate NYC Students on financial literacy at NYSE Event

Cross River Bank, in collaboration with Financially CLEAN and Visa, conducted a financial literacy event at the New York Stock Exchange for New York City high school and college students.

Cross River Bank provides technology infrastructure for financial services, featuring a proprietary real-time banking core.

The event took place on April 19 as part of National Financial Literacy Month, to educate students about financial literacy to enable responsible money management.

The programme featured discussions from financial experts across several organisations, including Cross River, Visa, the New York Stock Exchange, the Federal Reserve, Financially CLEAN—a nonprofit organisation that offers free financial literacy education—and Hopes, Dreams, Dedication, Inspiring Change (HDDIC), which supports displaced families and individuals with physical, mental, and developmental challenges.

Over 130 students participated in the event, learning about key financial concepts such as building credit, increasing wealth, and understanding the economic functions of financial institutions.

Eden Hoffman, Head of Global Communications at Cross River, discussed the foundation and goals of the event, stating:

“We were built on a foundation of financial inclusion, giving and serving the underserved. Our work with Visa and Financially CLEAN is empowering students, showing them the power of community and how modern financial services can help them live their dreams, and we are thrilled to continue this partnership.”

Shaun Lynda, Founder of Financially CLEAN, emphasised the importance of early financial education:

"Financially CLEAN targets the youths before they can legally establish credit. I believe the earlier we teach positive financial habits and promote good credit the greater the likelihood these practices will continue. Resulting in creating wealth for themselves and generations to follow.”
