Housemates unveils strategic growth plan to expand presence in EdTech

Housemates, a student accommodation platform based in Manchester, has announced its strategic growth plan to expand its presence in the EdTech and travel sectors. The company's Connect API booking engine is set to power over 200 platforms within these sectors over the next three years.

This will of course be aided by the use of a variety of other technological solutions too, ranging from apps for accommodation to the use of commercial gps solutions.

The expansion follows Martha Sperry's appointment as the new head of operations, signalling a fresh strategic direction for Housemates. 

Lydia Jones, the Founder and CEO of Housemates, outlined the company's vision, stating that the focus will be on rolling out 30 partner platforms powered by the Connect API by the end of the current year.

Jones emphasised the importance of continuous improvement, stating: 

“In the coming months, we are excited to roll out a host of new components, endpoints, and frameworks for Connect API.. 

“These enhancements will meet the evolving needs of the market and facilitate seamless integration for a backlog of interested parties.”

The company aims to capture a significant market share by enabling over 200 platforms facilitating the movement of more than 80 million students globally each year.

Martha Sperry's appointment is seen as integral to Housemates' strategic growth plan. Jones noted:

Housemates has established strategic partnerships with prominent platforms such as HousingHand, Unizportal, Dfavo, Edvoy, and Uniabroad. Through its Connect API, Housemates aims to become the leading platform for seamless student accommodation management.

Commenting on the impact of Connect API, Jones stated:
