Explore Learning has appointed Alexandra Cambier as its first Chief Customer Officer, adding senior customer growth and marketing experience to its leadership team as the tuition provider expands its digital and personalized learning strategy.
Cambier joins Explore Learning’s Senior Leadership Team and Board after nearly two decades in growth marketing, customer acquisition, retention, and customer lifecycle roles across financial services, food technology, digital health, and AI health technology. Her previous employers include HSBC, Gousto, Kry, and Heidi Health.
The appointment follows Lisa Haycox becoming CEO of Explore Learning in April 2025 and comes during a wider shift in the UK tutoring market, where families are looking for more individualized support outside mainstream education and providers are investing in technology to scale learning support.
Customer growth role added to leadership team
Explore Learning says Cambier will support its next phase of growth, with a focus on customer engagement, digital experience, and long-term value for families using its tuition services.
Her background includes experience across acquisition, retention, customer lifecycle management, search engine optimization, conversion rate optimization, customer relationship management, and marketing operations. She has also led teams of up to 30 people and managed budgets of up to £10 million.
At Kry, Cambier oversaw go-to-market, performance marketing, search engine optimization, web, customer relationship management, communications, and public relations across four markets. During that period, she delivered 55 percent year-on-year top-line growth while reducing costs by 20 percent.
Before joining Explore Learning, Cambier also held senior marketing and retention roles at Lenstore, Gousto, GAIN Credit, HSBC, Dynata, and Heidi Health.
Alexandra Cambier, Chief Customer Officer at Explore Learning, says: "Explore Learning is at an exciting point in its growth. The business already has a strong foundation and clear sense of purpose, and the opportunity now is to build on that as technology continues to reshape education. I've spent my career helping fast-growing businesses scale without losing sight of the customer, and in education, that matters more than anywhere."
Appointment follows AI white paper and Compass 2.0 launch
The appointment comes after Explore Learning published an AI white paper examining risks to children’s learning development when artificial intelligence is implemented without scientific rigor.
The company has also launched Compass 2.0, its personalized learning platform, which Explore Learning says is built on more than half a billion learning interactions. The platform includes adaptive capabilities designed to support how children learn.
Explore Learning describes itself as the UK’s largest independent tuition provider for school-aged learners. The company combines educators with proprietary technology and runs impact initiatives including free sessions in libraries and schools, subsidized memberships, and scholarships.
Lisa Haycox, CEO of Explore Learning, says: "Since stepping into the role of CEO, my focus has been on driving the business into its next phase of growth by ensuring we continue to meet the evolving, complex needs of the children and families we support. Alexandra’s appointment marks another important step in that journey. As demand for personalised learning continues to grow, her leadership will help us strengthen our reach, deepen engagement with families and continue building a category-leading education business."
Explore Learning is backed by Graphite Capital, an investor in mid-sized UK businesses. Cambier’s appointment adds a dedicated customer role to the company’s leadership as tutoring providers compete on personalization, digital delivery, and evidence of learning impact.
ETIH Innovation Awards 2026
Explore Learning was also named a finalist in the Best Digital Learning Platform for Schools category at the ETIH Innovation Awards 2026 for Compass. The category recognized platforms delivering structured, engaging, and measurable learning experiences in school settings, including tools supporting curriculum delivery, assessment, and independent or blended study. The full list of winners has now been announced.
