Canva Surpasses 60 Million Users in Education

Canva, the visual communication platform, has announced a significant increase in its education sector user base, surpassing 60 million users in K-12 and higher education globally as of February 15, 2024.

This development marks a doubling in user numbers over the past year, highlighting Canva's role in the evolving educational technology (EdTech) landscape. The growth aligns with Canva's efforts to expand its educational offerings, including tools and resources designed for classroom use.

In response to the growing demand for visual communication skills, Canva has introduced a range of features aimed at the educational community. These include a new library of over 5,000 customisable curricular lessons developed in collaboration with organisations like NASA and The New York Times, advanced accessibility features, and AI tools intended to enhance teaching efficiency and student creativity.

Canva reports that the expansion has led to an addition of 10 million new education users in the last three months alone.

Through its Canva for Districts initiative, the platform has extended its reach to several school districts across the United States, including Miami-Dade County Public Schools, Houston Independent School District, Jefferson County Public Schools and Wichita Public Schools

“Canva empowers our team to move faster while increasing engagement with our students,” said Robert Dickson, Chief Information Officer, Wichita Public Schools.

“We have a beautifully diverse population of students with various learning differences. With Canva, our teachers save time by creating things with one tool that can easily be adapted to meet the needs of all students. Even more exciting, Canva is also giving agency to students who are becoming better communicators and collaborators, essential lifelong skills.”

The launch of Canva for Campus aims to provide colleges and universities with comprehensive visual communication tools to prepare students for a visually oriented workforce.

Jason Wilmot, Head of Education for Canva, commented on the platform's growth in the education sector, stating, "The rapid growth we’ve seen in our education product reflects the increasing demand for visual communication tools and visual literacy in the classroom.

“We’re offering a platform that empowers teachers to engage with students and helps students build the skills they’ll need for the future. We’re proud to be supporting our global education community with these tools."
