Ativion StudentKeeper offers one platform for web filtering, classroom management and safeguarding
Ativion, formerly Impero Solutions, has launched StudentKeeper, a classroom and device management solution that is designed to safeguard and engage students. It combines online content filtering, classroom management tools, and online device and blocking management capabilities with wellbeing tools into a single platform. The product can foster a safer digital environment where distractions are mitigated.
StudentKeeper comes with an underlying proprietary AI-enabled search function that can proactively filter and block harmful content while students browse the internet. An assistant, powered by artificial intelligence, can also better support teacher management of their students’ and classes digitally, claims the vendor.
The technology relies on Ativion’s existing ContentKeeper web filter and real-time reporting solution as its baseline infrastructure. But this latest application has been updated to suit the classroom environment. All the educational functionality has been built into a single, end-use specific platform in order to try and save time for teachers and improve their data accessibility and oversight.
The enhanced StudentKeeper solution is customizable and compliant with the EU’s privacy protecting GDPR rules, plus Ofsted and governmental requirements, such as the Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSIE) stipulations in the UK.
“ContentKeeper, our proprietary and enterprise grade [real-time] web filtering technology, provides all the necessary security and adaptability,” said Tobias Hartmann, CEO of Ativion. “With StudentKeeper, Safeguarding Directors and designated safeguarding leads (DSLs) at schools now have a single dashboard and a secure, customizable space to review data. This is required to keep children safe. ”
Other technology advancements in StudentKeeper include:
Flexible filtering and reporting capabilities in real-time and on every device, including bring your own devices (BYOD) such as mobile phones, which can be a problematic area for schools.
Seamless integration with Child Protection Online Monitoring Systems (CPOMS) and in-built bespoke dashboards that are designed to meet the requirements of senior leaders, teachers and DSLs to enhance efficiency.
Granular control of popular web services, such as YouTube, Google and social media sites. This allows educators to decide what content is accessible to students, when.
AI-powered assistants can help teachers streamline note management, which can help them to spot trends and raise concerns more quickly about any errant student behavior.
A parent/guardian portal, provided in partnership with schools, can allow responsible adults to view a child's activity on any school-issued devices outside of school hours. This further extends the safeguarding umbrella off-site into the out-of-hours digital universe.
Ativion presently safeguards over 10 million students in 80 countries. The StudentKeeper solution should allow teachers to do it in a more granular data-centric manner.
