TSB and Doshi join forces to improve financial literacy for UK students

TSB has teamed up with financial literacy app Doshi to provide students aged 13-18 with the skills and confidence to manage their finances. The partnership, which will engage 1,000 students over the next six months, seeks to improve financial understanding and decision-making in preparation for adulthood.

A recent report by the 2023-2024 Young Person’s Money Index highlighted that more than four in five young people (81%) worry about money, while 82% want to learn more about personal finance in schools. However, only 40% of young adults receive financial education during their secondary schooling years.

The Doshi app was developed to engage students in learning about financial management. The app uses interactive lessons to teach key financial concepts, with progress tracked through points and leaderboards. By completing modules, students can earn rewards such as shopping vouchers, making the learning experience more rewarding and practical.

The app focuses on helping students set financial goals, reduce financial anxiety, and build foundational knowledge in personal finance. The rewards system helps drive engagement, while the interactive modules cover topics that young people can immediately apply in their daily lives.

Daniel Rose, Chief Executive of Doshi, emphasised the importance of such education:

“Only two out of five young adults have received financial education in secondary school. At Doshi, we believe that financial education is essential for building healthy, confident lives.

“Our mission is to engage as many young people as possible in a fun and rewarding way, supporting them on their critical path to financial independence."

TSB’s role in the partnership will involve direct engagement with schools to promote the Doshi app and help students complete the financial education modules. The team up aligns with TSB’s broader goal of promoting financial confidence among young people, particularly as they approach adulthood and begin making independent financial decisions.

Kate Osiadacz, Head of Responsible Business at TSB, stated:

“Entering adulthood Money Confident is vital to ensuring young people are set up to enjoy a lifetime of stable finances and informed financial decisions.

“We’re on a mission with Doshi to help young people boost their knowledge using the app’s innovative learning platform; so that they start their financial lives in the best place possible.”
