S'moresUp launches TeenSpirit app to equip teens with life skills and strengthen family dynamics

S'moresUp, a family management solutions provider, has introduced its latest product, TeenSpirit. The new app aims to support teenagers in developing essential life skills that promote self-management and improve family dynamics.

TeenSpirit was designed to foster organisational skills, financial literacy, and communication. The app provides teenagers, particularly members of Generation Alpha, with tools that help them navigate their daily lives while also preparing them for adulthood.

The app offers several key features to help teens develop important life skills. The Chore Card System enables teens to take responsibility by managing and tracking their daily chores, helping them build accountability and structure. With the MyWallet feature, teens can learn financial literacy through a virtual economy, where they can earn and spend virtual money, simulating real-world financial experiences.

The Planner helps teens organise both their day-to-day activities and long-term goals, improving their time management skills. For family communication, the Campfire feature aims to strengthen connections and foster support networks within the home.

To support emotional well-being, the app includes an Everyday Mood Tracker, which allows teens to monitor their moods and reflect on their mental health. Weekly and Monthly Analytics provide insights into how teens are progressing towards self-reliance, offering a data-driven view of their growth.

According to S'moresUp co-founder Reeves Xavier, TeenSpirit addresses a critical need for teens navigating the complexities of mental health and self-management.

"TeenSpirit addresses the urgent needs of today's youth in navigating the complexities of mental well-being in a digital world," Xavier said. "With enhanced features focused on mental health, like the Everyday Mood Tracker, TeenSpirit acts as a vital resource in helping teens develop resilience."

TeenSpirit was developed with the input of teens who participated in S'moresUp’s Summer Internship programme, as well as experts in psychology and diversity and inclusion (D&I) from the tech industry. Insights were also gathered from over 250,000 families who use the S'moresUp platform.

The S'moresUp app provides family management solutions that help parents raise independent and financially responsible children. Co-founded by CEO Priya Rajendran, who previously led PayPal Wallet, and Reeves Xavier, a former technology executive at PayPal and Intuit, the app is focused on offering data-driven tools to support family life.

"This app responds to the growing need for tools that support teen development in a post-pandemic world,"Rajendra explained. "It helps teens manage their daily tasks but also strengthens family ties and builds financial acumen, preparing them for adulthood.'"
