The National Science Teaching Association (NSTA), based in the USA, has announced the appointment of Camille Sanders as its new Senior Director of Membership & Strategic Partnerships.

Sanders, who took on the role on 19th August, will be responsible for developing strategies to increase member engagement and growing NSTA’s partnership portfolio.

Sanders brings over 15 years of experience in membership development and strategic partnerships. Before joining NSTA, she served as Senior Director of Career and Workforce Solutions at ASAE: The Center for Association Leadership.

In that role, she led the growth strategy for ASAE’s Association Career HQ and directed the ReadyMe programme, which provided training and mentorship for leaders in the field. Sanders has also held key positions in marketing and membership at several other organisations, including the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases and the Water Environment Federation.

“We are thrilled to welcome Cam Sanders to the NSTA team. With her extensive experience and strategic vision, Cam will be instrumental in driving our membership growth and forging impactful partnerships that will elevate our organisation to new heights,” said Erika Shugart, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer at NSTA.

In her new position, Sanders will play a crucial role in shaping NSTA’s membership strategy. Her responsibilities include developing programmes to increase member engagement, boosting membership retention and renewal, and building strong relationships with NSTA’s state partners and affiliates.

Sanders will also focus on identifying strategic relationships to grow the organisation’s partnerships and enhance the overall member experience.

Reflecting on her new role, Sanders expressed her enthusiasm for contributing to NSTA’s mission.

“I am truly honoured to have been selected for this position at NSTA, a leader in transforming science education,” she said.

“With [more than] 15 years of membership experience, I am eager to apply my expertise in developing and implementing innovative programme strategies to enhance NSTA's member engagement, increase membership, and grow our partnership portfolio. I look forward to collaborating with the NSTA team to elevate the member experience and further advance the organisation's mission.”
